Watch the news - news reports come on TV at 5:00 pm, 6:00pm and 11:00pm each weekday, also starting at 4:30am each morning. Or, look up the weather on the internet. Write a weather report that you could tell the class about-Describe the weather pattern for the next 5-7 days-what will the temperatures be like (Highs/Lows) ? Is there any precipitation in the 5 day forecast? If so, how much/what type of precipitation, when, how long? What will the winds be like?

What do meteorologists mean when they talk about "extreme weather conditions"? Name some types of extreme weather. Have you ever experienced extreme weather? Ask your family, have they? Describe what you/they experienced.

Choose an extreme weather condition - Hurricane, Tornado, Tsunami, Blizzard or Thunderstorm.
- Write an essay about it, answering the following questions:
- What causes this weather condition?
- What kinds of dangerous conditions can occur during the severe weather?
- What precautions/safety measures should people take if they know it is coming in advance?
- When was the last time we experienced this kind of severe weather in the U.S., or in New York? Find information on any damage it caused, fatalities, if any, etc.
** Include a picture of your weather condition as a cover page.
** This will count as a project, not a 2 point HW. It is due Monday. Must be NEATLY written on looseleaf or (preferably) typed. A picture must be included. **

What else in our lives, school, family, etc. has something that can be compared to a "nucleus" ? Think of something that has the same job as a nucleus, as the "head" of the cell. Be creative, there are multiple answers!
