The Fourth Marking Period began on Monday, March 30, 2015! If you didn't do well last quarter, now is the time to begin working seriously. If you did well, you do not have any time to be laid back and become complacent; there's still a lot of work to be done. At any rate, good luck as we continue on this 6th grade journey, which will sometimes feel like a roller coaster ride, but at the end, it would have been worth it all. Buckle your seat belts, it's time for take off!!! Ms. Henry
MyOn must be visited at least 5 hours per week and you MUST read books from the recommended book list! At the end of each book, you'll be given about 5 questions to answer, before you are allowed to move on to another book; your progress will be checked and you'll be given a grade for each 'test', which will be part of your overall ELA grade each Marking Period/Quarter, so please be serious as you actually focus and read, and watch as your comprehension soars. Enjoy the adventures and knowledge that await you!!
We now have iPads to use in the classroom to aid you in achieving the MyOn goal. In addition, we'll be able to work on Achieve 3000, which is another reading program that will also help you to do well on the upcoming NYS ELA Exam in April, and continue to build your reading comprehension for the remainder of the school year.
***Home Work is given on a daily basis and should be completed when it's given. However, if for whatever reason the home work was not done when it was assigned, the student has one day to make it up, but a parent/guardian must sign it, if it's to be accepted. Students must remember to review their notes on a daily basis, as well. Parents, please encourage and help your child to achieve his/her best for the remainder of the school year.
Missing Writing Assignments - Students are given more time to make these up, and parent/guardian must also sign these late assignments. Writing assignments are required work for the student's portfolio, and missing writing assignments are not recommended.
